This solution utilizes a combined process of "Magnetic Separation - Flotation" to remove Iron, Mica, and Quartz. It ensures a final concentrate with K₂O+Na₂O ≥ 12% and Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.2%.

What Is Feldspar Beneficiation?

Feldspar Beneficiation is the process of purifying Feldspar minerals (Orthoclase, Albite) by removing impurities like Iron oxides (which color the product), Mica, and Quartz. The primary methods are Magnetic Separation (for iron removal) and Flotation (for mica removal and feldspar-quartz separation).

Feldspar Beneficiation Process Steps

Step 1: Crushing & Screening

Goal: Reduce raw ore to a uniform size for grinding.

  • Coarse Crushing: Jaw Crusher (PE Series) handles large rocks.
  • Fine Crushing: Cone Crusher reduces size to -10mm.
  • Screening: Vibrating Screen ensures particle size control.

Step 2: Grinding & Classification

Goal: Liberate impurities (Mica, Iron) from Feldspar.

  • Grinding: Wet Lattice Ball Mill grinds ore to 75-80% passing 200 mesh.
  • Classification: Spiral Classifier returns coarse particles for regrinding.

Step 3: Magnetic Separation (Iron Removal)

Goal: Reduce Fe₂O₃ content to ≤ 0.2% for whiteness.

  • Weak Magnetic Sep: Removes strong magnetic minerals (Magnetite).
  • High Gradient Magnetic Sep: Uses 1.0-1.2T field to remove weak magnetic minerals (Hematite, Biotite, Tourmaline).

Step 4: Flotation (Purification)

Goal: Separate Feldspar from Quartz and Mica.

Reverse Flotation:
Uses Cationic collectors (Amine) to float Mica and Quartz first under acidic conditions, leaving high-grade Feldspar in the tank.

Q1: How do you separate Feldspar from Quartz?

A: Feldspar and Quartz have similar densities and magnetism. We use Flotation (specifically HF-free acid flotation or alkaline flotation) to separate them based on their surface chemical properties.

Q2: Can I just use Magnetic Separation?

A: If your only impurity is Iron (e.g., biotite, hematite), yes. But most feldspar ores contain non-magnetic impurities like Muscovite Mica or Quartz, which require Flotation for removal.

Q3: How to achieve super-white feldspar?

A: Whiteness is mainly affected by iron. We use High Gradient Magnetic Separators (1.2T+) to remove fine iron particles. In extreme cases, acid leaching may be used for premium glass grades.
