Gold Ore Flotation Production Line Solution is designed for recovering gold from Sulfide Rock Ores.

This solution is widely used for processing about 80% of rock gold ores, especially those with high floatability. It enriches gold into sulfide concentrate, offering a low-cost, high-recovery alternative to cyanidation for suitable ores.

What Is Gold Flotation?

Gold Flotation is a process where gold-bearing minerals (usually associated with sulfides like Pyrite or Arsenopyrite) are separated from gangue. By adding collectors (Xanthate) and frothers, the hydrophobic gold minerals attach to air bubbles and float to the surface, forming a high-grade concentrate.

Gold Flotation Process Steps

Step 1: Crushing & Screening

Goal: Reduce ROM ore to a suitable size for grinding.

  • Rough Crushing: Jaw Crusher handles large rocks.
  • Fine Crushing: Cone Crusher reduces ore size further.
  • Transport: Belt conveyors move ore between stages.

Gold Ore Crushing Plant

Step 2: Grinding & Classification

Goal: Dissociate gold minerals from gangue.

  • Grinding: Ball Mill grinds ore to the target fineness.
  • Classification: Spiral Classifier or Hydrocyclone ensures only qualified particles enter the flotation circuit.

Gold Ball Mill Grinding

Step 3: Flotation Separation

Goal: Selectively float gold-bearing sulfide minerals.

Roughing:
High pulp density. Maximizes recovery of gold minerals.
Cleaning (Concentration):
Lower pulp density. Improves concentrate grade.
Scavenging (Sweeping):
Recovers residual gold from rougher tailings to minimize loss.

Step 4: Product Dewatering

  • Thickening: High-efficiency Thickener reduces water content.
  • Filtration: Filter Press produces dry gold concentrate cake for smelting.

Process Control Guide

Parameter Function Note
Grinding Fineness Liberation Must be tested. Over-grinding causes slime loss.
Collector Promote Attachment e.g., Xanthate. Binds gold to bubbles.
Frother Stabilize Foam e.g., Pine Oil. Creates stable froth layer.
Regulator Adjust pH e.g., Lime/Soda Ash. Optimizes environment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Which gold ores are suitable for flotation?

A: Flotation is best for Sulfide Gold Ores (gold encased in pyrite/arsenopyrite) and Polymetallic Ores (gold-copper, gold-lead-zinc). It is not suitable for coarse free gold (use gravity) or oxidized ore (use leaching).

Q2: How does flotation compare to cyanidation (CIL/CIP)?

A: Flotation is cheaper and faster but produces a concentrate that needs further treatment (smelting/roasting). Cyanidation extracts gold directly but is slower and more expensive. Flotation is often used as a pre-concentration step.

Q3: What affects flotation efficiency?

A: Key factors include Grinding Fineness (liberation), Reagent Dosage (precision is key), and Pulp pH (affects surface chemistry).
