Copper Dross Sorting & Resource Utilization Solution turns smelting waste into high-value copper concentrate and green building materials.

With 2.2 tons of slag generated for every 1 ton of copper, efficient recovery is crucial. Our solution recovers residual copper (up to 90% recovery rate) using Gravity or Flotation processes, and converts tailings into cement or road base, achieving 100% resource utilization.

What Is Copper Slag Treatment?

Copper Slag Treatment involves recovering valuable metals (Copper, Iron) from pyrometallurgical waste. Depending on the copper particle size, we use Gravity Separation (Jigging) for coarse particles or Flotation for fine, encapsulated particles. The final waste is processed into construction aggregates, solving disposal issues.

Process Selection Guide

Route 1: Gravity-Magnetic Combined Process

Best for: Coarse-grained copper slag (Traditional Smelting).

  • Crushing: Jaw Crusher reduces slag size.
  • Jigging: Jig Machine recovers coarse copper metal based on specific gravity difference.
  • Grinding: Ball Mill liberates locked particles.
  • Shaking Table: Recovers fine copper.
  • Magnetic Sep: Removes Iron (Magnetite) to purify copper concentrate.

Copper Slag Jigging Machine

Route 2: Flotation Process

Best for: Fine-grained, complex copper slag (Modern Flash Smelting).

  • Principle: Uses collectors (Xanthate) to float copper sulfides.
  • Process: Crushing -> Fine Grinding (-0.074mm >90%) -> Flotation.
  • Performance: Copper Concentrate Grade >28%, Recovery >90%.

Copper Slag Flotation Cells

Zero Waste: Slag Utilization

After copper extraction, the inert tailings (Iron Olivine/Silica) are high-quality raw materials:

  • Cement Industry: Used as an iron corrector raw material.
  • Construction: Concrete aggregate, road base material (replaces sand).
  • Green Building: Raw material for non-fired bricks and permeable blocks.
  • Benefit: Creates a second profit center and eliminates landfill costs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Gravity vs. Flotation: Which is better?

A: Gravity (Jigging) is cheaper and eco-friendly but works best for coarse copper particles. Flotation has higher recovery for fine particles but uses chemicals. We analyze your slag sample to recommend the best route.

Q2: What is the ROI period?

A: For gravity separation plants, the ROI is often less than 1 year due to low operating costs and the high value of recovered copper.

Q3: Can the tailings really be sold?

A: Yes. Cleaned copper slag is an excellent abrasive (sandblasting) and a certified additive for cement production due to its high iron and silica content.
