Disc Feeder (Disk Feeder)

The Disc Feeder (ZC Series) is a precise volumetric feeding equipment for fine powdery and granular materials (< 20mm). It is suspended under the hopper to provide continuous and uniform feeding.

It is widely used in Chemical, Cement, and Mineral Processing plants for feeding reagents, coal powder, and dry mineral sands to the Ball Mill or Mixer.

Working Principle: Rotating Discharge

Controlling flow via rotation speed and scraper gap.

01

Material Stacking

Material falls from the hopper through a sleeve onto the rotating disc. It forms a natural repose angle cone on the disc surface due to self-weight.

02

Rotation

The motor drives the disc to rotate via a worm gear reducer. The rotation moves the material pile towards the discharge side.

03

Scraping Discharge

An adjustable Scraper (Knife) guides the material off the disc edge into the receiving chute. The feed rate is adjusted by changing the scraper gap or disc speed.

Disc Feeder Structure

Technical Choice: Disc vs. Vibrating vs. Belt Feeder

Which feeder is best for fine powder?

Feature Disc Feeder (ZC) Vibrating Feeder (GZ) Belt Feeder
Material Size Fine Powder (< 20mm). Lumps & Granules. Medium Size.
Precision High (Volumetric). Low (Rough). Medium.
Flowability Handles Sticky/Wet. Dry Only. Handles Sticky.
Cost Low. Low. High.

Core Advantages

1. Precise Feeding

By adjusting the scraper position and sleeve height, you can control the feed rate very accurately, which is crucial for reagent dosing.

2. Handles Difficult Materials

Unlike vibrating feeders that get blocked by wet/sticky mud, the scraper mechanism of the disc feeder can force sticky materials off the disc.

3. Compact & Durable

Simple structure with few moving parts. The disc is lined with wear-resistant steel, ensuring a long service life with minimal maintenance.

Typical Applications

  • ● Reagent Dosing:
Feeding lime powder, soda ash, or other dry reagents in flotation circuits.
  • ● Ball Mill Feeding:
Feeding fine ore (< 20mm) from the fine ore bin to the Ball Mill.
  • ● Cement & Clay:
Feeding raw meal, clay, or gypsum in cement plants where moisture content is high.
  • ● Mixing Plant:
Accurate proportioning of aggregates and binders in fertilizer or pelletizing plants.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can I use it for large rocks?

A: No. The Disc Feeder is designed for < 20mm fine materials. For large rocks (> 50mm), you should use a Vibrating Feeder or Apron Feeder.

Q: How do I adjust the feed rate?

A: There are two ways: 1. Adjust the Scraper Position (knife gap). 2. Adjust the height of the Sleeve (control the material cone size). 3. Use a VFD to change motor speed (optional).

Q: Is it open or closed type?

A: We offer both. Open Type is cheaper and suitable for dry, non-dusty material. Closed Type is sealed to prevent dust and suitable for fine powder or toxic materials.
