Bauxite Production Line Solution offers customized processes for different Bauxite types (Gibbsite, Boehmite, Diaspore).

Our solution integrates "Washing - Classification - Flotation - Magnetic Separation". It increases the Aluminum-Silicon Ratio (A/S) by 2-5 times and achieves a concentrate grade of Al₂O₃ ≥ 50% for the aluminum industry.

What Is Bauxite Beneficiation?

Bauxite Beneficiation is the process of removing impurities (Silica, Iron, Titanium) from Bauxite ore to meet the requirements of the Bayer Process. The core challenge is Desilication (removing silica). Common methods include Washing (for clay removal) and Flotation (for separating silica minerals).

Bauxite Beneficiation Process Methods

Method 1: Washing Process (For Trihydrate/Gibbsite)

Suitable for ores with high clay content. The goal is to wash away the clay (which contains high silica).

  • Washing: High-pressure water guns or Rotary Scrubber remove 80% of clay.
  • Classification: Spiral Classifiers separate coarse concentrate (+0.5mm) from fine tailings (-0.5mm).
  • Flotation: Fine slime can be further processed by flotation using Oleic acid.

Method 2: Flotation Process (For High-Silica Ore)

The standard solution for difficult-to-process High-Silica Bauxite.

Positive Flotation:
Grind ore to -0.074mm (85%). Use Sodium Hexametaphosphate as dispersant and Oleic Acid collectors to float Bauxite minerals while depressing Silica.
Reverse Flotation:
Float Silica minerals while depressing Bauxite. Effectively raises the A/S ratio.

Method 3: Magnetic Separation (For High-Iron Ore)

Used when iron content is too high for refractory applications.

  • Equipment: High Gradient Magnetic Separator (1.0-1.5T).
  • Result: Removes iron oxides (hematite/goethite) to produce low-iron Bauxite.

Q1: Why is the Aluminum-Silicon (A/S) ratio important?

A: The A/S ratio determines the quality of Bauxite. A higher ratio means less silica, which consumes expensive caustic soda during the Bayer process. Beneficiation aims to raise the A/S ratio to >7 or >10.

Q2: When should I use Washing vs. Flotation?

A: Use Washing if your silica is mainly in soft clay (Kaolinite) that can be washed away. Use Flotation if the silica is in hard minerals (Quartz) or finely disseminated, requiring grinding to liberate.

Q3: Can you process low-grade bauxite (Al₂O₃ < 40%)?

A: Yes. By using Reverse Flotation desilication, we can upgrade low-grade ores to usable concentrates (Al₂O₃ > 50%), making previously uneconomic deposits viable.
