Chromite Sand Processing Line Solution is designed for the efficient recovery of Ferrochrome ore from alluvial deposits.

This solution utilizes a "Washing - Gravity Separation - Magnetic Separation" process. It effectively enriches Chromite sand in the 0.1-5mm particle size range, offering high capacity, low operating costs, and high recovery rates for strategic chrome resources.

What Is Chromite Sand Beneficiation?

Chromite Sand Beneficiation is the process of upgrading low-grade alluvial chrome ore into metallurgical-grade concentrate. Since Chromite has a high specific gravity (4.5-4.8) compared to silica sand (2.6), Gravity Separation (Spiral Chutes) is the primary method. Magnetic Separation is often added to separate Chromite (weakly magnetic) from non-magnetic heavy minerals or remove strong magnetic impurities.

Chromite Sand Process Steps

Step 1: Pre-treatment (Washing & Screening)

Goal: Remove large waste rocks and wash away sticky clay.

  • Feeding: Uniform feeding via Bin and Feeder.
  • Washing: A Trommel Screen or Rotary Scrubber washes the ore and screens out coarse waste (>2-5mm), ensuring only sand-sized particles enter the gravity circuit.

Step 2: Gravity Separation (Roughing & Sweeping)

Goal: Bulk enrichment of heavy minerals.

  • Spiral Chute: The Spiral Chute Group is the core equipment. It uses gravity and centrifugal force to separate heavy chromite from light silica sand.
  • Configuration: Typically involves a Two-Stage Process (Roughing + Sweeping) to maximize recovery and ensure minimal loss in tailings.

Step 3: Concentration (Optional)

Goal: Further improve concentrate grade.

  • For high-grade requirements, the spiral concentrate is sent to a Shaking Table. The shaking table provides precise separation based on density, producing a high-grade final concentrate.

Step 4: Magnetic Separation

Goal: Remove magnetic impurities or separate Chromite from other heavies.

  • Equipment: Magnetic Separator (Dry or Wet).
  • Function: Used to remove strong magnetic minerals (Magnetite) or to separate weak magnetic Chromite from non-magnetic minerals (Zircon, Rutile).

Q1: Can you process low-grade chromite sand?

A: Yes. Because Spiral Chutes operate at very low cost, they can economically process low-grade alluvial ores by discarding huge amounts of waste sand in the roughing stage.

Q2: What is the water requirement?

A: Wet gravity separation requires significant water (pulp density 25-35%). However, we design water recycling systems with settling ponds to reuse >90% of the process water.

Q3: How do you handle clay?

A: Clay can negatively affect spiral performance. We use a Rotary Scrubber or High-Pressure Water Washing in the Trommel to disintegrate clay before separation.
