Chute Feeder (Reciprocating Feeder)

The Chute Feeder is a classic, heavy-duty feeding equipment installed under the Ore Bin. It is designed to feed massive, lumpy materials (up to 500mm) into the primary crusher or conveyor.

Unlike vibrating feeders, it is robust and can withstand the heavy impact of dumping ore. It is widely used in Iron Ore, Copper, and Gold mining plants as the first-stage feeder.

Working Principle: Reciprocating Motion

Pushing material forward using an eccentric drive mechanism.

01

Drive

The electric motor drives the eccentric wheel via a belt pulley and reducer. The connecting rod converts the rotary motion into linear reciprocating motion.

02

Pushing

The movable bottom plate (floor) moves forward, carrying the ore from the bin towards the discharge opening.

03

Retracting

When the plate moves backward, the ore stays in place (blocked by the rear ore pile) and falls off the front edge into the Jaw Crusher.

Chute Feeder Structure

Technical Choice: Chute Feeder vs. Vibrating Feeder

Which primary feeder is right for you?

Feature Chute Feeder Vibrating Feeder
Load Capacity Very High (Withstands Bin Pressure). Medium (Needs controlled load).
Material Type Large, Heavy, Sticky Ore. Dry, Hard Rock.
Pre-screening No. Yes (Grizzly Bars).
Cost Low. Medium.

Core Advantages

1. Handles Bin Pressure

It can be installed directly under a loaded ore bin. Its rigid structure supports the weight of the ore column, which would crush a vibrating feeder.

2. Adjustable Stroke

The feeding amount can be adjusted by changing the Eccentricity of the drive wheel, altering the stroke length of the bottom plate.

3. Simple & Durable

No complex electronics or springs. Just a motor, reducer, and steel plate. Very easy to maintain in harsh mining environments.

Typical Applications

  • ● Primary Crusher Feeding:
Feeding large rocks (300-500mm) into the Jaw Crusher from the coarse ore bin.
  • ● Short Distance Transport:
Moving ore from the bin to a conveyor belt or bucket elevator.
  • ● Mineral Processing:
Handling heavy ores like Iron, Copper, and Lead-Zinc ore.
  • ● Aggregate Plant:
Feeding river stones or blasted rocks in quarry plants.

Technical Parameters

Model Trough Size (mm) Max Feed (mm) Capacity (t/h) Stroke (mm) Power (kW)
CL-400 400 × 400 200 25 - 30 100 2.2
CL-600 600 × 500 350 10 - 50 140 4.0
CL-980 (Standard) 980 × 1240 350 - 500 36 - 90 20 - 150 7.5

Maintenance Guide

  • Lubrication: Grease the eccentric bearings and rollers weekly. Check gearbox oil monthly.
  • Bottom Plate: The steel floor plate wears out over time due to friction. We use replaceable liner plates to extend machine life.
  • Stroke Adjustment: Stop the machine to adjust the eccentricity if the feed rate needs changing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can it feed sticky material?

A: Yes, much better than a vibrating feeder. The reciprocating push action forces sticky clay or wet ore forward, preventing blockage.

Q: How do I control the feed rate?

A: You can adjust the Stroke Length (Eccentricity) or use a VFD to change the motor speed. Increasing the stroke increases capacity.

Q: Is it suitable for fine powder?

A: No. It is designed for coarse lumps. For fine powder, use a Disc Feeder or Screw Feeder to prevent flushing/flooding.
