Scheelite Production Line Solution is designed for the efficient recovery of Scheelite (CaWO₄) from complex skarn deposits.

This solution uses a combined process of "Gravity Separation - High Temperature Flotation". It effectively separates Scheelite from Calcium-bearing minerals like Calcite and Fluorite, achieving a concentrate grade of WO₃ ≥ 65%.

What Is Scheelite Beneficiation?

Scheelite Beneficiation is the process of concentrating Tungsten from ore where it co-exists with minerals of similar floatability (Calcite, Fluorite, Apatite). The core technology is the "Petrov Method" (High-Temperature Heating Flotation), which uses heat and Sodium Silicate (Water Glass) to selectively inhibit gangue minerals while floating Scheelite.

Scheelite Beneficiation Process Steps

Step 1: Crushing & Grinding

Goal: Reduce ore to the liberation size while minimizing slime generation.

  • Crushing: Jaw Crusher (Primary) + Cone Crusher/High Pressure Grinding Roll (Secondary) to -10mm.
  • Grinding: Ball Mill + Spiral Classifier in closed circuit.

Step 2: Pre-Enrichment (Optional)

Goal: Discard coarse tailings early to reduce flotation load.

  • For coarse-grained Scheelite, Shaking Tables or Spiral Chutes are used to remove significant amounts of light waste rock before fine grinding.

Step 3: Flotation Separation (Core Technology)

This is the most critical stage, divided into four specific separations:

1. Sulfide Removal:
Float Sulfides (Pyrite, Molybdenite) first using Xanthate. Scheelite remains in tailings.
2. Scheelite Roughing:
Float Scheelite + Calcite + Fluorite together using Fatty Acid collectors (Oleic Acid) under alkaline conditions (Sodium Carbonate).
3. High-Temperature Concentration (Petrov Method):
Thicken the rough concentrate to 60-70% density. Add large amounts of Sodium Silicate (Water Glass) and heat to 80-90°C for 1 hour. This strongly depresses Calcite and Fluorite while keeping Scheelite floatable.

Step 4: Cleaning & Fine Mud Treatment

  • Cleaning: Dilute the heated pulp and float Scheelite. Calcite/Fluorite remain in the tank.
  • Fine Mud: Recover fine tungsten using Centrifugal Concentrators or Micro-bubble Flotation Columns.

Scheelite Separation Challenges & Solutions

Separation Task Difficulty Our Solution
Scheelite vs. Calcite Both contain Calcium (Ca), similar surface properties. Petrov Method (Heating + Na₂SiO₃) selectively depresses Calcite.
Scheelite vs. Fluorite Similar floatability with fatty acids. Combined depressants (Quebracho, Sodium Silicate).
Fine Mud Recovery Fine particles settle slowly and consume reagents. Centrifugal Concentrator or Flotation Column.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Why is heating necessary for Scheelite flotation?

A: Heating (Petrov Method) drastically increases the difference in surface properties between Scheelite and Calcium-bearing gangue (Calcite/Fluorite). Sodium Silicate becomes a much stronger depressant for gangue at high temperatures (80°C).

Q2: Can Scheelite be recovered by gravity?

A: Yes, if the grain size is coarse. Scheelite is heavy (SG ~6.0). We use Shaking Tables or Spiral Chutes for pre-concentration to discard light waste rock early, reducing flotation costs.

Q3: What reagents are used?

A: Primary Collector: Oleic Acid or Oxidized Paraffin Soap. Depressants: Sodium Silicate (Water Glass), Quebracho. pH Regulator: Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash).
