Silico-Manganese Slag Sorting & Resource Utilization Solution turns smelting waste into valuable alloy and building materials.

This solution recovers over 90% of Silico-Manganese (SiMn) alloy from slag using a purely physical gravity separation process (Jigging). The remaining tailings are processed into green construction materials, achieving 100% resource utilization.

What Is SiMn Slag Treatment?

Silico-Manganese Slag Treatment is the process of recovering metal alloy trapped in smelting slag. Since SiMn alloy has a much higher density than the slag matrix, Gravity Separation (Jigging) is the most efficient method. The process involves crushing to liberate the alloy, followed by jigging to separate the heavy metal from the light waste.

Silico-Manganese Slag Processing Plant

SiMn Slag Processing Steps

Step 1: Crushing (Liberation)

Goal: Separate alloy particles from the slag matrix.

  • Dry Slag: Use Roller Crusher or Four-Roll Crusher to minimize over-crushing of the brittle alloy.
  • Water Slag: Use High-Efficiency Fine Crusher.
  • Target: Fully dissociate slag and alloy for effective separation.

Step 2: Screening & Jigging (Separation)

Goal: Separate heavy alloy from light slag.

  • Screening: Trommel Screen classifies material (typically 5-15mm). Oversize returns to crushing.
  • Jigging: Jig Machine uses water pulsation to stratify the material. Heavy SiMn alloy sinks, while light slag floats.
  • Efficiency: Recovery rate reaches 85-95%.

Step 3: Dewatering & Product Handling

  • Alloy: Recovered alloy (Purity ≥95%) is dewatered and sold directly to steel plants.
  • Tailings: Waste slag is dewatered by Dewatering Screen (moisture <15%) for use in construction materials.

Turning Waste into Profit

Beyond metal recovery, we convert tailings into high-value products:

  • Mine Backfill: Low-cost filling material (Strength C30).
  • Road Base: Solid waste-based soil coagulant.
  • Green Building Materials: Non-fired bricks, ceramic granules, and blocks.
  • Cement Admixture: Active admixture for concrete.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Can I treat both dry and water-quenched slag?

A: Yes. The core gravity process (Jigging) works for both. However, the crushing stage differs. Dry slag uses roll crushers, while water slag (which is already fine) may skip coarse crushing or use fine crushers.

Q2: What is the ROI period?

A: Due to the high value of recovered SiMn alloy and low operating costs of jigging, the payback period is typically less than 1 year.

Q3: Is the process environmentally friendly?

A: Yes. The process uses only recycled water and physical separation. No chemicals are added, and the final tailings are utilized, resulting in zero pollution.
