The Inclined Tube Thickener (also known as Lamella Thickener) is a high-efficiency gravity settling equipment. It uses honeycomb hexagonal inclined tubes to multiply the settling area, achieving 3-5 times higher capacity than conventional thickeners in the same footprint.
It is widely used for concentrate dewatering and tailings water recovery in Tungsten, Tin, and Rare Earth processing plants.
Maximizing settling area by stacking inclined tubes.
Slurry enters from the bottom feed pipe. It is uniformly distributed into the inclined tube zone, moving upwards.
Solid particles settle onto the bottom surface of the tube. Due to gravity and the steep angle (60°), they slide down against the water flow.
Clean water (Overflow) rises to the top and exits via the weir. Thickened sludge (Underflow) collects in the bottom hopper and is discharged.

Why choose the compact Lamella design?
| Feature | Inclined Tube Thickener | Standard Thickener (NZ) |
|---|---|---|
| Footprint | Very Small (Vertical). | Large (Horizontal). |
| Settling Efficiency | High (Large effective area). | Medium. |
| Power Consumption | Zero (No drive motor). | Low (Rake drive needed). |
| Maintenance | Tube cleaning required. | Mechanical maintenance. |
By stacking settling surfaces (tubes), it provides a huge settling area in a tiny footprint. Ideal for indoor installation or plants with limited space.
Unlike standard thickeners with rake drives, this equipment has no moving parts. It runs entirely on gravity and hydraulic pressure.
The laminar flow in the tubes prevents turbulence, allowing fine particles (even slime) to settle efficiently.
| Model | Settling Area (m²) | Dimensions (mm) | Capacity (t/d) | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TY-1 | 1.0 | 1700×1245×2610 | 50 - 150 | Small / Pilot Plant |
| TY-5 | 5.0 | 3580×2350×3500 | 300 - 800 | Medium Plant |
| TY-10 | 10.0 | 7160×2350×3500 | 500 - 1500 | Large Production Line |

A: Over time, fine sludge may stick to the tubes. You can clean them by back-flushing with water or using a high-pressure water jet from the top.
A: The standard angle is 60 degrees, which is optimal for self-cleaning (sludge sliding down). For sticky sludge, we can customize a steeper angle.
A: The hexagonal honeycomb tubes are typically made of PP (Polypropylene) or PVC. They are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and durable.
