FRP Spiral Chute (Gravity Spiral Concentrator)

The Spiral Chute is the most energy-efficient gravity separation equipment for fine mineral particles (0.02-0.3mm). It requires Zero Power and is made of lightweight, durable Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP).

It is the industry standard for processing Beach Sands (Zircon, Rutile), Chromite, Iron Ore, and Tin. It often works after the Ball Mill to discard tailings early and increase concentrate grade.

Working Principle: Gravity & Centrifugal Force

Separation occurs as slurry flows down the helical surface under gravity.

01

Feeding

Slurry (density 25-35%) is fed uniformly onto the top of the spiral. Gravity pulls it down the helical trough.

02

Stratification

Heavy Minerals sink to the bottom and move towards the inner circle (slow speed). Light Minerals float to the top and move to the outer circle (fast speed).

03

Cutting

At the bottom discharge, splitters cut the flow into Concentrate (Inner), Middlings (Middle), and Tailings (Outer) accurately.

Technical Choice: Spiral Chute vs. Shaking Table

Both separate by gravity, but they have different roles in the plant:

Feature Spiral Chute 6-S Shaking Table
Stage Roughing & Scavenging. Cleaning (Final Concentrate).
Capacity High (Large volume). Low (Small volume).
Footprint Small (Vertical installation). Large (Horizontal).
Enrichment Ratio Medium. Very High.

Core Advantages

1. Advanced Material

Made of high-quality Fiberglass (FRP) lined with wear-resistant resin and corundum. It is light, rust-proof, and corrosion-resistant.

2. Zero Power Cost

It relies entirely on gravity and water flow. No electricity, no motor, no moving parts. Extremely low operating cost.

3. Stable Separation

Insensitive to fluctuations in feeding volume, concentration, and grade. Once adjusted, it runs stably without supervision.

Typical Applications

  • ● Beach Sand Mining:
Recovering Zircon, Rutile, Ilmenite, and Monazite. See Zircon Production Line.
  • ● Iron Ore Beneficiation:
Separating Hematite and Magnetite from silica to upgrade Fe content.
  • ● Chrome & Manganese:
Discarding silica tails in the early stage. See Chromite Solution.
  • ● Tungsten & Tin:
Pre-concentration of fine slime before the 6-S Shaking Table.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How long does the FRP surface last?

A: Our spirals are lined with high-quality resin and corundum (Emery). For normal sand, the service life is over 5-8 years. The surface is rust-proof and wear-resistant.

Q: How do I adjust the grade?

A: By adjusting the Splitters (Cutters) at the top discharge valve. Moving the splitter inward collects more high-grade concentrate (but less quantity); moving it outward increases recovery but lowers grade.

Q: Can I use it for gold?

A: Yes, it is excellent for recovering fine Placer Gold. However, for nugget gold (>3mm), a Sluice Box or Jig is better. Spirals are best for gold dust.

Q: What is the recommended feed density?

A: The optimal pulp density is usually between 25% and 35%. Too thin or too thick will affect the stratification efficiency.
