The Hydrocyclone is a high-efficiency centrifugal separator with no moving parts. It is widely used for Classification, Desliming, and Thickening in mineral processing plants.
Typically fed by a Slurry Pump, it generates strong centrifugal force to separate fine particles (overflow) from coarse particles (underflow). It is the modern alternative to the Spiral Washing Machine in grinding circuits.
Creating a powerful vortex to separate particles by weight and size.
Slurry is pumped into the cylinder tangentially at high pressure (0.5-2.5 bar). This forces the liquid to spin rapidly, creating a primary vortex.
Coarse/heavy particles are thrown to the wall by centrifugal force and spiral down (Outer Vortex). Fine/light particles stay in the center (Inner Vortex).
Coarse sand is discharged from the bottom Spigot (Apex) as underflow. Fine slime moves upward and exits through the top Vortex Finder as overflow.
Which classifier fits your ball mill circuit?
| Feature | Hydrocyclone | Spiral Classifier |
|---|---|---|
| Footprint | Very Small (Vertical). | Large (Long tank). |
| Separation Size | Fine to Very Fine (0.01-0.2mm). | Medium to Coarse (0.15-0.8mm). |
| Efficiency | High (80-90%). | Medium (50-60%). |
| Operation | Requires stable pump pressure. | Stable, easy to control. |

Small volume but huge throughput. A cluster of cyclones can handle thousands of cubic meters per hour.
Capable of separating particles down to 10 microns (0.01mm). Ideal for preparing feed for Flotation or Leaching.
Lined with premium Polyurethane (PU) or Ceramic tiles, offering 3-5 times longer life than standard rubber liners.

A: You can adjust the diameter of the Vortex Finder and Spigot (Apex). Generally, a smaller Vortex Finder or larger Spigot leads to a finer cut point.
A: The standard pressure is between 0.05 to 0.25 MPa. Stable pressure is crucial for consistent performance. We recommend using a VFD-controlled slurry pump.
A: Yes. Our cyclones are designed with replaceable liners (Rubber or PU). You only need to change the worn liner, not the entire steel shell.
