I. Program Overview

This zircon ore beneficiation program designs a complete set of "crushing - grinding - classification - gravity separation - magnetic separation - electrostatic separation" combined process for the characteristics of primary zircon ores (rock ores). Primary zircon ores are usually found in igneous rocks such as anorthosite and chalcocite anorthosite, and the main mineral is zircon (ZrSiO₄), which often coexists with ilmenite, rutile, apatite, nepheline and other minerals. The zircon ore production line program ensures zircon recovery while effectively separating the accompanying minerals through multi-stage crushing and stage sorting, and finally obtains high-grade zircon concentrate (ZrO₂≥65%).

Second, zircon beneficiation process flow details

  1. Crushing system
    Raw ore firstly enters into the silo, and is evenly fed into the jaw crusher through vibrating feeder for coarse crushing, which crushes the ore to 50-80mm, and the coarse crushed product is fed into the cone crusher through belt conveyor for medium and fine crushing, which crushes the ore to 10-15mm. the crushing system adopts the two-stage and one closed-circuit flow, and is equipped with vibrating screen to form the closed-circuit cycle, which ensures the uniform size of crushed product.

  2. Grinding and Classifying System
    The crushed ore enters the ball mill for grinding, and rubber liners are used to protect the zircon crystals. The milled products are classified by spiral classifier or hydrocyclone, and the fineness of the milled products is controlled to be between 75-85% of -200 mesh. The graded overflow enters the gravity separation system, and the returned sand is returned to the ball mill for regrinding.

  3. Gravity separation system
    The graded overflow first enters the spiral chute for roughing, utilizing the density difference between zircon and vein minerals for preliminary enrichment. The spiral chute concentrate enters the shaking table for concentration to further improve the zircon grade. The ore in the shaking table returns to the grinding system, and the tailings enter the tailings treatment system. The gravity separation system adopts a graded recovery design to ensure the effective recovery of zircon of different grain sizes.

  4. Drying and tempering system
    The gravity separation concentrate enters the rotary dryer for drying treatment, which adopts indirect heating method and controls the drying temperature between 80-120℃ to reduce the moisture of the concentrate to below 0.5%. After drying, the product is cooled and screened to control the particle size at -1mm, which creates good conditions for the subsequent electrostatic beneficiation operation.

  5. Magnetic separation + electrostatic separation system
    The dried product firstly passes through the dry magnetic separator to remove ilmenite and other magnetic minerals, and then enters the high-voltage electrostatic separator for sorting. The working voltage of the electrostatic separator is controlled at 40-60kV to separate zircon and rutile through the difference of mineral conductivity. In order to further improve the concentrate grade, electrostatic sorting operation can be added for final purification.
